Chris Grant • Bass

With over 3000 performances spanning 40 states and 10 countries, Chris’s musical roots run deep in the blues. He spent five years playing  the east coast with NC-based Arhooly, then began playing nationally and internationally as bassist with Walter “Lightnin’ Bug” Rhodes, Skeeter Brandon and HWY 61, Big Bill Morganfield (son of Blues Legend Muddy Waters) and Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers. He has also performed with many artists as a back-up bassist, including blues royalty Nappy Brown, Carey Bell, Bob Margolin, and Joe Louis Walker, as well as with James Brown saxophone genius Maceo Parker, and Allman Brothers Band members Johnny Neel and Warren Haynes. Though he admires hundreds of great bass players, he feels most profoundly influenced by Motown great James Jamerson, jazz master Ron Carter, and of course, Paul McCartney.

Chris now brings his tremendous talent to Palmetto Soul.
